COVID Safe Trick or Treat

Tips for a COVID Safe Halloween

I know, what a lame title of this post.  I get it…we’re ALL sick of COVID, but that doesn’t mean we need to let our guard down.   So here are some COVID Safe Halloween tips to keep you and your little ones safe this year!

Tips for a safe Halloween

CDC Tips: If you’re celebrating Halloween this year, it’s important to follow the current COVID-19 safety guidelines. Continue to practice physical distancing, continue to limit contact with people outside your household, and don’t forget that traditional Halloween masks are NOT a good substitute for the CDC-recommended face masks.  (My kids are annoyed but it’ll protect them and others, so we’re doing it!) lol

Giving away Treats?

Giving out treats is the big issue this year.  If I have COVID germs and touch my candy then hand it out to another child, that kid can contract COVID from my virus candy.  (ew).  OR say I’m asymptomatic and I can spread COVID and I’m getting too close to people while passing out candy… How can we avoid this?

  • Leave the candy on the front steps-6+ feet away from your door.  I’ll be scattering it on the ground and when kids come I’ll tell him too choose one, without getting near them or touching the candy!
  • Get larger candy and treats to give out!  This will limit room for exposure to touching lots of pieces.  My favorite are giving Fruit Snacks, like the Welch’s brand below!
  • Scatter them on the lawn, and put up a sign to Hunt for the Candy on the Lawn.  Put a limit to the number of pieces kids can take.
  • Make a Candy Shoot!  People have done his with PVC pipes and old wrapping paper rolls.   That way when the kids come to the door they can stand behind the line and we can slide the candy down the shoot!

SAFE COVID TRICK OR TREATING

GOING Trick-Or-Treating?

I personally will be taking my kids out to trip-or-treat.  I will take every precaution I can and know to take!

I’ll be staying away from groups and going with just my family.

I’ll be keeping 6+Feet from others, and I will NOT let my kids go to the door.  I will, and I’ll be extra safe to keep a distance.  We’re going to have people throw candy at our buckets if they don’t have something fun set up already.  And if we miss it, we miss it!  lol.   This year we should be BASKET BALL HOOPS!  lol.

All in all, don’t attend any parties. Don’t get together with groups of people and help keep this holiday somewhat magical for the kids!

Our kids still need to be kids right? (here’s a flashback from last year on Halloween)
