May flew by this year! Probably because everyday felt like March. It was cold, rainy and windy here in Colorado. We go from 40 degrees to 80 within a few days. Literally. That’s our spring! 🙁
May was a steady month for my blog and I absolutely LOVE this blogging adventure! I’m still working to grow my readership and reach, which will be a forever challenge. A challenge that I’m learning and loving!
In May I re-designed my blog and so glad I did! It’s so easy it is to find my old posts! 🙂 YAY for designers that get a bloggers needs!
I also began to work on some old posts to update images and make them more SEO friendly! I’ve read it takes months to see the SEO changes so I’m excited to watch those posts come back to life.
Here’s how I made money this month on my blog:
Ebates | $96.00 |
Blogher | $50.00 |
Groupon | $50.00 |
Activate by Bloglovin | $11.90 |
IZEA | $74.00 |
Influence Central | $350 |
Shareasale | $45.00 |
Ibotta | $20.00 |
IConnect | $50.00 |
Total: | $747 |
INCOME: $747
Expenses:
Host Gator $8.55
BoardBooster $5
Stitch Fix Giveaway: $25
TOTAL Income: $708.45
My goal is to blog full time and be home with my little ones more! They’re used to seeing mom at night (working on the computer), on the weekends and of course heading off to work Monday – Friday. I’d love to be a full time mom that can support her family as an entrepreneur! My blog is my passion and one day I will get there! 🙂 The cost of daycare makes it impossible to have a big family and work…so I’d also love to be able to have another child and be home with them!
If your interested in starting your own blog I can point you in the right direction! Here’s some simple tips:
I run an affiliate help group for bloggers on Facebook you can join. I also publish my list of affiliates. You can read that list here! I am also working on a blog post to break down the steps to easily start your own blog! Until that’s up – I’d start by doing a few simple steps:
- Find a passion you want to write about!
- Think of a blog name!
- Then buy that domain! I used Host Gator to buy my domain.
- Choose a host for your blog. I also use Host Gator as a host. They’ve been amazing and they’re affordable! (It also makes it easy to call and ask questions when they have the domain and are your host).
- I use WordPress as my publishing platform. You’ll need to purchase a template/design for your blog.
Now you’re on your way to starting your own blog!
My biggest tip for anyone thinking of becoming a blogger is to make sure it’s a passion aside from the income opportunity. I’ve been blogging for 4 years and have barely started making money on my blog! That’s a lot of hours of working for FREE! But I’ve loved every minute of it!
