There’s a gem of a resort in south western Colorado, near Durango situated in the town of Ignacio is the Sky Ute Casino. A family getaway with something for everyone.
Amazing food, gaming for the adults, a heated indoor pool with a hot tub for everyone, an arcade, bowling and more!
We had the pleasure of spending 48 hours (which was not enough time to do it all) in the resort with our family of five, including two dogs!
Yes it’s a dog friendly hotel! (Limit two under 40lbs each). My dogs have never been to a hotel before, and they LOVED it!
The Drive
We drove from Denver, which is about a five hour drive. We went in October so the drive was absolutely beautiful! Fall colors all over the mountains made for a relaxing, enjoyable day.
We went through some charming towns including South Fork and Pagosa Springs.
The Resort
Check in was a breeze, in this smoke free hotel (yay!) and we zipped right up to the room to stretch out and relax a bit.
After we changed and freshened up we headed down to eat a local homemade meal including fry bread(which is one of my favorites).
After dinner we headed to the bowling alley which was full, so we went swimming instead.
The swimming pool was the highlight for my kids of course.
A warm, indoor pool, with plenty of nooks to play around in. We were able to sit in the hot tub and watch them play, so it was a win-win for all of us! Relaxing and my kids had fun!
The next morning we ate a delicious breakfast at the cafe in the resort. I highly recommend the french toast! 🙂
We spent the day having fun in the arcade, playing mini golf and on the playground on property.
That night we had reservations at the steak house in the resort called Seven Rivers. I’m not just saying this, but it was hands down the BEST food I’ve had in years!
Everything we ordered was amazing. Presented well, great portions, and five star courses is the best way to explain this restaurant. (Look it up on an opentable and see it’s the highest rated restaurant you’ll find!).
CASINO:
We loved that the casino was smoke free and SO clean. They have really taken the time to ensure it’s a good experience for all. We spent time playing the tables and slots. I enjoy the slots and games more than the tables. My husband is the opposite so it was perfect for us!

We drove home early the next morning feeling relaxed, refreshed and content that everyone had a wonderful weekend! Including the dogs! 🙂
