Ok I must admit, I’m not a HUGE Valentines Day fan…but now that my kids are getting bigger I’m starting to like the idea of it. A day to celebrate love. Any kind of love as I see it. The love for my husband, family, kids. In the past I’ve always associated it with “what are we doing romantically for Valentines Day?”. This year I’m all about celebrating my family and how much we love each other! I can honestly say, for the past 5 years, the hubby and I have only exchanged cards. Boring and generic. So this year I’ve decided to really celebrate each other and show each other how much I appreciate each of them. So here’s a list of some ideas (a few that I’m buying) to give to my loved ones as a reminder that while it’s Valentines Day….a day that’s completely made up…it’s still fun. I love you and appreciate you!
1). Make your own cards! They’re more personal and memorable! Here’s the Valentines Day card I had a crafty and talented friend make me (which I’ll be giving to my husband. I think he’ll laugh): cost – nothing since all the paper was scraps! (She has a cricket so I was able to get her to cut our the letters easily) I say skip the $5.99 hallmark card and make your own card! Need ideas on cards? Head here to check out the DatingDivas post. They have some great ideas that are unique and hilarious!
2) Men + Beer = Happy Hubby. Why not be the BEST wife ever and get your man a craft beer monthly subscription? Chicks have all the fun with monthly subscription boxes. This is one that HE can appreciate! CraftBeerClub.com-Discover Exceptional Craft Brews from Around the Country, Delivered to You! Click here!
3) If your significant other is more of a wine drinker you’re in luck because Club W is my personal favorite. Sign up here and you’ll get 3 bottles of wine for only $25 shipped! Wines are $13+ each so this is a great deal and the best part is they’re delivered to your door! I just signed up myself to re-stock my supply after being depleted during the holidays! 🙂
4). Want to surprise you’re family with love notes? Buy a pack of pink post it notes and write love notes to your family! Then on Valentines morning wake-up before everyone and make this below: (Picture credit…I found this on pinterst but the link to any website is broken so I apologize for not giving proper credit). Cost is under $2…just be creative with your notes!
Another great idea for the kids to make dad: photo credit: Kathi Lipp (found on her site and adored on Pinterest!)
5) Want to be crafty and make a gift for your whole family that will last a lifetime and be cherished…I think this would be a great gift for grandparents or to be framed and hung up in your home!
Ok enough crafty ideas..Now on to gifts for the kids…..
6). Crafts are my 3 year old daughters favorite past time. I LOVE working on them with her for many reasons…developmental benefits and spending quality time together are my top two reasons. Kiwi Crate is our favorite monthly box right now because they have boxes for kids 3-4 yrs old. They also have boxes for older kids if you need that. You can get a FREE trial right now, pay shipping only.
7). BOOKS! I’m making my kids a basket of books about love. Here’s my favorite LOVE books for kids. (Toddler age and younger).
